Based upon Structure's thorough wholesale market settlement knowledge, Structure was able to develop an allocation model that integrated with other systems and provided the necessary functionality to understand the cost of doing business within a particular market. Structure's roles included requirement gathering, detailed design, software development, testing and integration.
Structure assesses gaps in settlement procedures for power marketer/generator.
The Structure Group was requested by a power marketer/generator to review its back-office business processes and provide recommendations for eliminating redundancies and inefficiencies. Structure assessed the company's procedures in four markets, focusing on settlement areas such as daily settlement forecasting, month-to-date tracking and true-up, allocations and dispute management. During its assessment, Structure also discovered several inaccurate settlement charges that the marketer was able to dispute with the independent system operator.
Structure develops custom software for PJM market participant.
Structure worked with a market participant in PJM to create an intra-day decision support tool to monitor volumetric and financial energy positions within PJM. Structure worked with the client to create the vision of the business processes and tools that support these needs. It was necessary for Structure to understand what actions might be taken under different market scenarios and the opportunities and potential penalties each action might hold. The possibilities were matched with the client's planned market strategies and physical capabilities of the portfolio. Structure was then responsible for design and development of the planned energy position tracking system.
Structure provides market readiness training for a PJM expansion client.
The Structure Group was contracted by a large utility to assist it with internal training of its staff as it underwent significant changes to its organization, business processes and technology solutions with its entrance into the PJM market. As part of the project, Structure developed a training plan for all positions within the wholesale organization, delivered market overview and PJM settlements training to executives and staff and provided broad-based market rule training in order to develop a foundation for understanding the PJM market and impacts to existing business. Broader understanding of market rules and business processes has increased effectiveness of the transition effort and reduced PJM integration risk.
