HOUSTON, TEXAS (May 6, 2010) - Structure™, an industry leader in business advisory and consulting services to the energy and utilities industries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rafael Ochoa to lead the expansion of the Distribution Operations and Automation / Smart Grid practice. Ochoa has over twenty years of experience in the energy industry with a focus on distribution and transmission systems, including SCADA, EMS, DMS, DA, Work Force Management, OMS, GIS and Smart Grid. Prior to joining Structure, Ochoa held executive roles in Sales & Marketing and Product Development at ABB. Since joining Structure, Ochoa has delivered projects across the full spectrum of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) functions working closely with many of the leading equipment and technology vendors.
“The T&D business is undergoing fundamental change – rethinking business models and approaches that have been in place for many years. To be successful in this environment requires a strong foundation in the realities of the industry as it exists today, combined with insights into the technologies and capabilities of tomorrow,” said Alex Lago, Principal and Segment Lead for Structure’s GT&D business. “Rafael has demonstrated leadership and expertise in delivering major distribution initiatives at several of our key clients including OG&E and PECO and has emerged as an industry thought leader in the transformation of distribution operations.”
As part of the growth in the Distribution Operations and Automation / Smart Grid practice, Ochoa has recently added industry experts Andy Hanson and John Burke to his team. Hanson has focused his entire career on delivering improvements in T&D system operations, planning, and compliance while Burke has supported all aspects of the Smart Grid value proposition from strategy to implementation. “Our clients expect deep industry expertise and quality delivery from Structure from day one,” said Ochoa. “As we continue to add to our team, we’ll be looking for experts with the same solid industry background and delivery focus that John and Andy possess.”
